Clarity Enables Chemical Company to Find Right Mix for Software Training

Challenge Rohm and Haas, a leader in specialty and performance materials, implemented an upgrade to its SAP enterprise resource planning software system. As part of this larger project, the client recognized the need to develop training courses to support the implementation phase, especially for some new target audiences. Opportunity The Information Technology Education unit requested assistance from Clarity to develop the needed training courses using a Web-based training format. Clarity provided a consultant with extensive experience in instructional design and eLearning. Results The consultant initially used client-provided storyboards to quickly develop two training modules in Captivate® that featured multiple branching learning paths to leverage realistic scenarios. The consultant also worked in partnership with Rohm and Haas instructional designers to create multiple storyboards that were programmed in Flash®, performed quality assurance reviews of both alpha and beta tests of the programs, and designed assessment questions that would uphold the principles needed to be statistically valid and reliable. Rohm and Haas used its internal learning management system to host the developed courses, making them available to their target audiences. Clarity enabled the client to: • Train employees in support of the SAP software upgrade. • Receive relevant training content with realistic examples to better facilitate learning transfer.
